I dream of making beautiful music and wowing audiences night in and night out. Wouldn’t it be just a thrill to do that, and then also be recognized for what I am doing throughout the musical world? My name would be known all throughout, and respected not just in musical circles, but also in prominent social gatherings. It is a dream that I have always had, ever since I was a little kid. Too bad it has little or no chance of being realized as I am already approaching middle age and am still yet to learn how to play any musical instrument.
Indeed, it might seem a little too tall of an order now, but I am trying to correct it somehow. That is by trying to learn a musical instrument even at this late stage, if I could call it that. I believe that, even if I might not be the musical genius and hit that I envisioned myself to be all this time, I could still manage to play a few notes correctly, and right now, that is enough for me. When I did decide to learn, the next thing that I decided on was what instrument to learn. The obvious first choices were guitar and piano, but I wanted to be a little different, so I opted on learning violin interested.
There were those who were surprised at my choice, since to learn violin at this stage might not be that easy for a complete beginner like me. I still maintained tat it is the violin that I wanted to learn and nothing else, so I am proceeding with it. I am just so enamored at its sound that I could not change my mind anymore. My self confidence is also at a high enough level for me to make the attempt and believe that I could actually do it.
But as with all things that are worthwhile doing, learning to play the violin is going to take time and I know that. It will also require a bunch of work. I don’t expect that just because a year has passed that I’ll be playing great violin music. That’s not going to happen. I’ll need to practice during that time too. Without practice and dedication a whole decade could go by and I’ll still not be any closer to playing the violin. So I’m going to aim for 30 minutes a day.
