Running For My Life

Sure, we have all heard how we should take good care of our health and make it our priority. It is not something new and it’s been preached to us so many times that we probably sometimes choose to ignore it and even forget about it entirely. It has become a favorite preaching line for many, but not everyone who hears about it actually does anything to act on it.

Hearing and talking about it is clearly one thing, and taking any action towards its realization is something else entirely. There is a price to pay when it is your health that is in question and you still choose to ignore it. It is a price that many would realize to be too heavy quite late. When such a time comes, there is already little that could be done in trying to correct it. The thing to do is to heed any and all advices that relates to our health and do it immediately.

In my own case, I am someone who was almost guilty of ignoring the early warnings as well. I have always been on the healthy side, meaning I tended to be overweight, and that has been the case ever since I was a small boy. When I reached my late twenties, the situation took a turn for the worse as I became really overweight. That was when friends and family started to really sound off on their concerned alarms for me. I was gaining weight uncontrollably and I wasn’t doing anything about it.

During that time I was sort of indifferent to it all and did not really think much about my health. It was only after I was found to have high blood pressure that I stopped and thought about things. I suddenly realized that I just can’t go on ignoring everything that’s being said to me about my health issues. My friends and family were right, I had to do something and I do it right away.

It was then that I decided to have a change in my lifestyle. It was going to be difficult, I already knew that beforehand, but I had already made up my mind to simply be healthier. I changed my diet and eliminated red meat from the list of things that I meat. Initially, I relied heavily on white meat while gradually taking to more fruits and vegetables. I also decided I needed a sport, and chose running.

I believe it could help in my weight loss, while also providing me with more strength and endurance.
