Vintage Edwardian Engagement Rings Are Very Stylish

Vintage engagement rings are very much in the style these days. They are not only for old people.

“Vintage” or “old” in a broader sense is usually used to describe all things that are over 50 years of age. In contrast, the press refers to any ring which is less than 50 years.

Diamonds today are not necessarily applicable to antique engagement rings. For example, during the cleaning of white diamonds, they are now considered to be ideal. Many years ago, people wanted diamonds with a hint of color. In addition, the process of finding flaws and inclusion cuttings in diamonds was less refined way back then. More antique rings cannot be accepted by industry standards. Furthermore, if you have your mind set on the antique engagement ring, keep in mind that not all antique engagement rings should be worn every day, especially those with stones other than diamonds.

Victorian engagement ring designs vary in complexity. Many types of diamonds and pearls go with them. The rings are often set in yellow or rose gold.

Edwardian engagement rings were developed during and after the reign of King Edward and his wife, Alexandra. The rings during this period were usually made of white gold or platinum, and even the delicate details of lace (called filigree) designs include both arches, spirals, hearts, flowers and raised edges. Rose diamonds and precious stones including sapphires often belong to the group of Edwardian engagement rings.

Heart shaped engagement rings have been prepared with more than a geometric look, sharp edges and bold colors. A modern and elegant style is often characterized by the center stone and small stone model with flowers, leaves, and other forms. Precious stones and contrasting colors were in style like emerald and marquise cuts. Later in the period, the styles of white stones and platinum became more popular.
